In other words, Hannah Spencer Ennis Gaunt(t) who died in 1813 in Newberry County, SC (wife of Israel Gaunt(t) who died in 1798 may have other children with Mr. Ennis besides Susannah. However, in Hannah's will of 1813, she mentions Susannah Coates by name and then mentions a granddaughter, Patsy (Appleton) Abernathy and great-grandson, Grigsby Appleton. We believe that Hannah had a daughter (who most likely had died prior to 1813) tthat may have married William Appleton (who died prior to 1799) This Wililam was Martha or Patsy's father and Grigsby's grandfather. Martha/Patsy Appleton married George Abernathy prior to 1799. Grigsby Appleton was born 1795 in Abbeville District, SC. We are also looking for Grigsby's parents (perhaps his mother was a Grigsby family member?)d The patriarch of this family was a Thomas Appleton who ! arrived in the area in the 1760's from Frederick County, MD and received a land grant in 1774 on Indian Creek of Little Saluda River. Thanks for passing on our request to your list even though the connection is slim. Perhaps someone seeing this will note a connection of families in Newberry County, SC.
