Interesting. My grandmother, Lavenia Gay Coates, ggranddaughter of Pollard Hickman Coates, always claimed to be part Indian, I believe it was 1/8 Indian. It would almost have to come from her mother's mother, Sarah Bethany, whose parents I do not know.
