S.C. that mentions a John Coats. I'm not sure if it is the same John Coats you are looking for but I'll send you what it says. The interesting thing is it mentions Ezekiel Walker, brother of my Rev. Francis Walker of Edgefield Co. The name is shown as Ezeual instead of Ezekiel. Ezekiel Walker married Mary Fluker, daughter of George Fluker and sister to Hardy Fluker referred to in the deads. Edgefield Co. S.C. Deed Book 31, pg. 302 29 Jan 1814. Thomas Dixon, Susannah Dixon, Henry Coates, Marmeduke Coate, Joel Bell & Nancy Bell all of Newberry Dist. and Edgefield to Hardy Fluker, for four hundred dollars, 180 acres on Clouds Creek of Saluda River adj lands of Marmeduke Coate, George Fluker, Smith, Benjamin Carley, Eathridge and Joseph West originally surveyed for Cattlet Corley 29 Nov 1788, conveyed by said Catlet Corley to heirs of little JOHN COATE 15 Oct 1803. Then on page 104 Volume 32 Oct 1814, Hardy Fluker sold to William Fluker the same land adj lands of Marmaduke Coate----land originally surveyed for Cattlet Corley 29 Nov 1788, conveyed by him to heirs of little JOHN COATE 15 Oct 1803. Volume 35, pg. 472 26 Dec 1809 John Blalock, Rachel Park and Mary King lawful heirs of estate of John Blalock Sr. to John Pope, 110 acres on Big and Burnetts originally granted Arthur H. Davis, adj lands -----estate of JOHN COATS. You may already have these but I thought I would mention them in case you didn't have them. Apparantly this John Coats or "little John Coates" died before 1803 when it states "heirs of". Hope this helps.
