Charles married Martha sometime while they were in South Carolina. They moved from Kershaw Co., SC to York Co., SC between 1838 and 1844. About 1857 or so, the family moved to Shelby Co., AL. Charles COATS, b. May 11 1811 on gravestone, or about 1803 on census records. Martha "Patsy" ........possibly BARNES.....b. Dec 7 1825 on gravestone, or about 1818 on census records. Do you happen to know anything about the Charles COATS family when they lived in South Carolina?
