It's the same with Marmaduke. What I know is absolutely refuted in the records is still prevalent out there and could be for who knows how long. It's in written form, so will probably last forever....:) John, we have a James and John out of the William Coats and Frances group that is not fully accounted for as of yet....believed at this point to be brothers...all out of Maryland....sons of Charles and Sophia Coats....and yes, our line of Coats as far as we know were never in NC....
