It came from Gary Coates of Whitehall, Ill., who told me that his dad took him to Edgefield, SC to make copies of the records. He descended from James of Edgefield who was the son of Gentleman John as proven by wills and deeds. I think I threw this info away, because it wasn't my line. Gary Coates was with the 11th Cav in Veitnam and I believe he may be partially disabled. He works as a night janitor at the grade school and uses their computer. He is also an itinerant preacher. I paid for his DNA tests just to prove a point. I thought this was all settled. Some of his info came from Ancestry.com, but there is no doubt about it, at least in my mind. You can call info for the 217 area code to get his number. Good luck.
