Also the last payroll and muster record for this William seems to indicate that he was a Sgt...so I'm not sure if all the Wms are just grouped together here or if Wm Coats started out as a private and then got the rank of Sgt... Also you'll notice that the first record is a card that lists a whole bunch of record numbers...I'm not sure what this is either and it could possibly be the original record reference...these cards appear to be information taken from another source...but the other source is not among these records...
