Here is why. My Great grandfather Simeon Thomas born 1800; Hickman County,Tn. died Catahoula Parish,Louisiana aft.1870 . His Father Was Benjamin Thomas born Montgomery,North Carolina died in Mississippi. Simeon Thomas , Daughter Martha Adeline Thomas married Charles Austin Marion Coates. Their second son was named Martin Seborn Coates. There is not another Martin or Seaborn in the family that I can find. This family always names their children after relatives.
