If I understand the situation correctly, the Austin Coates of Wilkinson Co, MS must be another Austin (i.e. *not* the son of William and Susannah) because William and Susannah's Austin was living in Tennessee in the 1830's and married another Dismuke. The Wilkinson Co, MS Austin died in the late 1820's (if memory serves) and married a Margaret Kuhn (Coon). So just as there are lots of Sions floating around, there seems to be a surplus of Austins too. I might point out that there is a Sion L. Coates from SC who died in Cherokee AL and had a son named Austin. There is a Sion L. Coates in Barnwell/Orangeburg Co, SC at the same time that Elijah (and son Pollard) are there, so there might be some connection there. Justin M. Sanders "I shot an arrow into the air. 3. Thanks for the update. As far as I know from other's correspondence and their first hand records, Sion L. has not been found to have a son named Austin. What was your source on that? Maybe there are two Sion L's as the one I have died in 1854 in Lauderdale Co., MS. Also, this is what I have for Austin Marion Coats married to Margaret Kuhn. Is it correct? His only listed child in this families bible records was David Jackson, b. 1818. David Jackson married Lydia Ann Jane Poe. Austin can be found in the 1830 Wilkinson Co., MS census records.
