I have some Irish Coates, but very skimpy information. Catherine Coates married in Parish Church Kiltormer, Galway, Ireland about 1837 to James Butler. I have no record of who her parents are, nor even who her siblings are. However, when her children were baptised, the first three had Coates as Godparents: 1838: Bridget Butler, Godmother Brigida (Bridget) Coates 1840: Judith Julia Buter, Godfather Patrick Coates 1842: James Laurence Butler, Godmother Anna Coates Does this family of Coates look familiar to anyone researching Coates in Ireland? Kiltormer is in very eastern Galway. This family immigrated to USA in mid-1850s.
