I am looking to find information on the William Coates who married Nancy Shipp on May 1, 1824 in Halifax County, VA - I have just found out there is a possibility that his father or grandfather was Samuel Coates. His marraige certificate to Nancy shows his middle initial as the letter A. I have also been told that William may have married previously to a Sarah Moorefield in Dec 1818. Does anyone have any info on this Coates line? Happy New Year everyone.
