Well, this is interesting...Char ----- Original Message ----- From: Roger Crabtree Sent: Tuesday, January 09, 2001 4:19 AM To: GACOLUMB-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [GACOLUMB] Recorded Land Transactions Hi Joe and Group, Joe, thanks for the clear explanation of Richmond, Columbia, and St. Paul. I haven't looked at many deeds in Columbia Co., but I have looked at deed books in other GA counties. It isn't unusual to find transactions for land located in one county recorded in another county. Sometimes the Grantor or the Grantee didn't live in the county where the land was located, so the deed may have been recorded in the home county of the Grantor or Grantee. Sometimes the Grantee lived nearer the county seat of a neighboring county than to his own, so he took the deed to be recorded in the closer location. Just one more reason for always checking neighboring counties. Pat Crabtree Moncks Corner, SC ==== GACOLUMB Mailing List ==== Suggestions or comments?
