Got some estate papers on Samuel Coats today...dated 1808..he died intestate, I don't see a will in here...bond went to Mary Coate, assume his wife, Jehu or John Taylor, George Marshall and John Leavell and Henry Coate has signed it...John Coate was an appraiser for it...Mary Coate the administrator Rather large estate...was into cotton it looks like...had slaves, one named Plummer... Says, John Taylor was also an administrator...sale was ordered Jan 4th 1808, Purchasers were: Mary Cote (notice that spelling, spelled that way all the way through the sale record) John Taylor John Frost Joseph Smith George Marshall David Miles George Whitmore Isaac Gilder William Summers Jacob Taylor Mathew Brooks James Stidmon ?
