    3. No, the unfortunate part is that it doesn not say who the widow is...but there is also a plat in the Archive, I think it was in Benjamin Long's estate papers in the Quity Court records, that shows, Benjamin Long with land on the north side of the Saluda and just next to it Capt Henry Long's land... I'm wondering if that Esther Pemberton is Esther the daughter of William, the one that died in 1830 something...didn't he have a daughter named Esther...I recall Dorothy and a son William, but don't recall he had a son named Henry... Hmmm, yes, I assumed it was the Beaverdam near Little River.... Char ----- Original Message ----- From: Linda J. Is there any indication who the "widow" is.... The William and Henry could easily be the known sons of Little John.... (not Big John who lives on Beaverdam Creek and who doesn't die until 1809).... Does anyone know who Esther and Richard Pemberton are??? so we can place this family. It could indicate a relationship between Big John Coates family and this Coates family so is definitely worth checking on the location of the property on Bigdam (as there were 3 Bigdam Creeks in Newberry Co.) and narrowing down who it refers too.
