I have just received a copy of my Mother's birth certificate and was wondering how I could find out where Wayne Co., Detroit, Michigan might have the 1920 census. If anyone out there would happen to have these I would appreciate a look up for the address of 2135 Stanley, that is all that is on the certificate. Am looking for Aurthur and Annie Coates. Should not be any children. Would like to know if he is still in the military. Does anyone know how I could find his military records as the certificate says he was in the war against Germany from Mass. I haven't the slightest clue as to where to look. Any help here would be great. Thank you Pat

James Coats - will - Edgefield district sons: John Coats - gave him the land from James Scott and Armstead Hall or Hale - James Coats - gives him land on Turky Creek, these show the chain of title as well...devises some slaves as well...daughter Elizabeth - calls for the emancipation of a slave - daugher Hannah - daughter Gracey who married James Smiley (hmm, guess that solves that, it would be her son that was Dan Coats Smiley)- daughter Mary, who married Marmaduke Coats - proved Nov. 7, 1817 - witnesses: Eldred Sinkiey or Jenkiey and John Adams I don't see a signature date right off hand... ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
haven't found any Coats wills here yet...but I did find what appears to be a George Coote in 1824 that appears to have been a commissioner of the Laurens Court...but there is also another microfilm for Laurens yet to come... I'm thinking of all those kids that John Coats, sr. had and the only one we know for sure was John jr. and possibly a Samuel...at least one daughter still living at home in 1826... They came out of NJ, PA and VA...just wnat you all to know, lack of documentation seems to be inherent in this hobby...<g>...I'm going to post some of the info here later, the locations of things etc because they were Quaker...might give us some clues as well...like where some of these Quaker meeting places are and some LDS microfilm numbers that contain records for the early 1700s in these areas also...
