    1. [COATES-L] Family Reunion
    2. Now before anyone gets up in arms over this posting, please note, I will only post it once. So if it does not concern you, please delete it and let it go. On Oct. 7 & 8, at Camp Allen near Navasota, Tx. We had our annual Christopher Reunion. We have been having this reunion for 15 years, and this year, in spite of pouring rain most of the time, it was the best one yet. The reason was that we had new cousins coming from contact on these family lines, and it was wonderful. Now, to the point of my posting. We are endeavering to reach out to as many people as possible for next year. The accomadations are great, (and cheap, thanks to relatives who work for Camp Allen) There is good food. We stay overnight in the huge cabins. Ours had five huge bedrooms, most rooms slept about 4-6 people, There was a kitchen, a bath in every bedroom and a spare in the hallway. (O>K>) be patient I am getting there. So, to descendants of Big John Coats, Wright Coats, Daniel Polignac Coats, etc. or if you are decended from John Christopher and Nancy Ussery, or the Fughams who came to Texas when it was a republic, Usserys and Pettuses please contact me and let me put you on a mailing list. And mark your calendar for next year, even if you don't think you can come. You might change your mind. Daphne Christopher Crose

    1. RE: [COATES-L] Newberry Deeds
    2. steve pearson
    3. Charlotte, I am intrigued with the deed that mentions Susannah as the wife of John Coate(s). I do not know if you remember but I am the one whose Coats line is supposed to go as such ( according to Mary Helen Pemberton ): Silas Pearson married Susannah Coats, born 1833, ( my gr gr grandparents ) Susannah Coats, born 1833 was a daughter of John Coate born abt 1796 in SC and Martha "Patsy" Rudy born abt 1802 in VA. John and Patsy were members of the Greenville Creek Christian Church in Miami County OH. John Coate born abt 1796 in SC was supposidly a son of a John Coate born aft. 1769 in Bush River SC and a Susan, possibly "Brock" for a last name according to Mary Helen. The "theory" continued as such: That John Coate born, aft 1769 in Bush River was a son of "Gentleman" John Coate.
