This from the 1836 tax list for Lincoln Co. TN: District 22- Thomas COATE(which is, I'm sure, identical with Thomas Coats/Coots of LCT, b. SC c. 1803 and d. LCT 1874) District 2-John Coates Joseph J. Coats(15 acres in Dist. 2) These last two I am not sure about at all. In fact, I've not encountered a Joseph J. Coats in any of the LCT families, so I am left wondering who the heck he was. Any assessments/opinions? Regards to all, -- Larry D. Hamilton Coats P.O. Box 823 Aspermont, TX 79502

----- Original Message ----- From: Lloyd Coats Sent: Saturday, February 10, 2001 12:20 AM To: coats@hotmail.com Subject: Thanks Hi Charlotte, Just wanted to thank you answering my query and for sending all the info on your Coats line. I just made a quick check back to some of my line and it seems that a Titus Coats and a William Alfred Coats in the early 1800's were from Ga. and the kin migrated to Alabama. It appears that we are of a different line. I have not gone into tracing these in depth but may get around to it one of these days. Thanks again for answering.
