recall that record I got from the MO state archive some time ago...and it's in the Coats Archive...well, this is D.H. Coats, I think the person in that record...and not Huff D. Coats...I had always wondered about that record because Huff's initial's would have been H.D. Coats not D. H. Coats...but I guess the MO State archive thought they were close enough...<g>...anyway... If it doesn't look right, it may not be...<g>.. Char ----- Original Message ----- From: JSClifft@aol.com Sent: Sunday, March 25, 2001 12:35 PM To: coats@hotmail.com Subject: Re: D. H. ----- Original Message ----- From: Claudia Kelley Sent: Saturday, March 24, 2001 9:06 AM To: coats@lawyer4u.com Subject: Tate-Coats Marriage My grgr, etc.,-Aunt, Mary Frances (Fannie) Tate, born 1864 in Williamsburg, Callaway County, Missouri, married a J. F. Coats probably circa 1880. I have not been able to locate this person and wondered if he was familiar to you. The will you submitted of William Coats provides for two sons, James and John, who may or may not be the J. F. Coats for whom I have been searching, off and on. Someone in my branch of the William Otis Tate, father of Mary Frances Tate, family suggested this J. F. Coats may have lived in New Mexico. Without a name rather than initials, I am not succeeding. It would surely be wonderful if you knew of a family member who married Mary Frances Tate. ----- Original Message ----- From: Elwin Sperring Sent: Thursday, March 22, 2001 3:50 PM To: coats@lawyer4u.com Subject: Coate Family Tree Hello, I just got your name and address off the Somerset list. I have a lady on my family tree by the name of Elizabeth COATE born 1832 Aller, Somerset... she married Joseph DAWBIN 1833 in Chedzoy. I have oodles of info about the Dawbin side of my family but nothing at all about the Coate side. They seem to be hard to find for some reason and everyone I ask is doing a different Coate tree, though I personally think they are all related as it is not a common name. Elizabeth and Joseph went to NZ. I think that Elizabeth's father was Henry Coate and her mother was Joan ? . They had land at Stoke St Gregory apparently. ( a guess or a hope ) But she called her first son Henry. Elizabeth thought enough of the Coate name to give it as a middle name to at least 3 of her children. Does any of that sound familiar to you ??? This is my direct line so I'd like to know more. I don't know if it is relevant or not but Joseph Dawbins grandfather was Lord of the Manor Stawell...Ford Farm. What that means and what the place is like I do not know. But it probably means they weren't poor. Please let me know...regards....Jenifer<br clear=all><hr>Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at <a href="http://explorer.msn.com">http://explorer.msn.com</a><br></p>

I believe this will belongs to William son of John Sr. Coates of Philadelphia. " William who died in Northern Liberties, in his will he names cousin Warwick Jr. Coates, son of Warwick Coats as well as his wife Martha, d. Sarah and sister Rachel Hartley. By profession, he is listed as a Sadler. Since all the other Williams in this branch of the family are spoken for, I am guessing that he is the son of John Sr. Coats to make him a 1st cousin to Warwick Coats, son of Warwick. Timing, place and relationship to Warwick fit these facts." >PA Will Book W page 420 >will of: Martha Coats of Northern Liberties of City of Philadelphia, widow >- signed 1789 >husband, William Coats, deceased >daughter: Sarah wife of Peter S.
