My husband's great grandfather, Isaac Wesley Clouse (nicknamed "Gus", don't ask me why, grin!) was born in TN in 1854. I had been looking for him in the 1880 census and couldn't find him until I went through all the Clouses living in Putnam and White Counties (and if you have researched there, there's a BUNCHA Clouses). I found him listed as "Ivestly" Clouse. Which I suppose is either "I." Westly, or "Westly". I knew he was there SOMEWHERE, it just took some looking! Good luck in your hunting, everybody!
