    2. MICHAEL MARTINEZ
    3. I can for sure go back as far as John Dillard Clouse who was born in 1775 in VA (died 1859 in TN) ... but I can go no further it seems. I've seen where his father is listed as a George Clouse and mother Eliabeth Jarvis. Can anyone else tell me more of the origins of this Clouse branch? Thanks. Maudie Corder Milliken (1887 - 1963), 3rd wife of James Brooks Snoddy (Note: Maude was illegitimate and have never found out about father, she was my great grandmother) Eliza Millican (abt 1871 to bef 1900) Altamira Clouse (1849 - 1924) m. 1. Re: Abraham
    2. Maria Clouse is the daughter of Jacob Clouse (b. 2/5/1789 in Sussex County, New Jersey) and Margaret Dougherty (daughter of Anthony Dougherty and Mary McCool). Jacob is Abraham's brother. The parents of Jacob and Abraham are Leonard Clouse and Elizabeth Sovereign in 1785 in Schoolhouse, New Jersey. Elizabeth is the daughter of Frederick Sovereign and Lavinia Culver. I have more detail that I will e-mail tomorrow.

    2. I know that Leonard came with a number of children and had some more when he got to Norfolk County. I have a list in my records and will send them along when I get a chance to look at them. My guess is that Maria is one of Leonard's daughters. Andy

    2. Sorry, Abram is the youngest child of Leonard Clouse and Eliz. Sovereign. Don't know yet if Leonard had bro/sis that came to Norfolk with him, there were 12 familes that immigrated from New Jersey together. Michael

    2. Erma I believe I am on the right track. My grandmother Australia America Summitt was the daughter of John David Summitt and Frances Clouse. Frances was born in Mo @1877 and I believe that her father was Jacob Clouse. John David and Frances married in 1898 and resided for a time in Lafayette co., Mo (my grandmother was born there in 1903). Any additional information you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I would love to share my Summitt-Keck info with you.

    1. Re: Clouse History
    2. My name is Alvin Clouse, There is a Clouse History book as my father Alvin M. Clouse has one. A lady by the name of Pat Franklin, along with help from my father and a lot of other people put it together. As far as I know Pat still has some of them, She was selling them for $60.00 I, myself, don't know how to contact her but my father does. If you are interested feel free to email me at daddo@citlink.net or contact my father at PO Box 297, Cookeville, TN 38503. You can also phone him at (931)526-6205, he will be more than happy to help you. I do know the book traces all of us back to a Phettiplace Clouse and just kinda dies there. Also there are alot of Clouses burried in this area, ie Putnam/White Counties, TN. If you need any help please contact either of us.

    1. PROTEST new Soc Sec costs
    2. Mary Strovink Daukas
    3. When I saw the messages revealing the increase of $20 each for copies of soc sec application I became very concerned. See the following site for information: http://www.ssa.gov/foia/foia_guide.htm The increased fees table is under the heading: Fees And Payments Not many years ago, genealogy was a luxury which only the wealthy could pursue. Most of us were not able to financially afford the process of locating our families and ancestors. Now, just when this treasure is within our hands, it is slipping out of our grasp. This is especially true for those of us on fixed incomes. Our time had finally come and now sadly it is gone again. To protest this insult to our pocketbooks, I am writing letters to my representatives in Congress. I looked up the following website to get the email addresses of the US Congress. Be sure to give your name & info as requested. ( The email addresses for my representatives work in spite of the caveat on the web page. ) See this webpage to locate YOUR representatives in Congress http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/ I will be emailing the following message. I invite you to either copy my message, using your signature, or send in your own: Dear Sirs: I STRONGLY protest the increase in cost for requesting copies of social security applications. The sudden increase from $7.00 to $20.00 is inequitable. This appears to me to be a deliberate attempt by the government to create a chilling effect on those of us pursuing the research of our families. This increase in price appears to be a way for the government to cut down on the number of requests they receive for application copies. Instead of fufilling the needs of taxpayers the government seems to be trying to eliminate their duty to assist us by making the cost of our requests prohibitive. As my representative in Washington, I am requesting that you try to stop this increase of costs for requesting copies of social security applications as soon as possible. 1. My Family Tree
    2. Meg Bookout
    3. Many many years ago When I was twenty three, I got married to a widow who was pretty as could be. This widow had a grown-up daughter who had hair of red. My father fell in love with her, and soon the two were wed. This made my dad my son-in-law and changed my very life. My daughter was my mother, for she was my father's wife. To complicate the matters worse, although it brought me joy, I soon became the father of a bouncing baby boy. My little baby then became a brother-in-law to dad. And so became my uncle, though it made me very sad. For if he was my uncle, then that also made him brother To the widow's grown-up daughter who, of course, was my step-mother. Father's wife then had a son, who kept them on the run. And he became my grandson, for he was my daughter's son. My wife is now my mother's mother and it makes me blue. Because, although she is my wife, she is my grandma too. If my wife is my grandmother, then I am her grandchild. And every time I think of it, it simply drives me wild. For now I have become the strangest case you ever saw. As the husband of my grandmother, I am my own grandpa.
