I am Stuck on William Marion Cloud, b: 1845, m: Marguerite Jane Brown July 2, 1866. Father of Marguerite is believed to be Jon B Brown, mother unknown. Areas included Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and North Dakota. Possibly Canada. Children are: James W Cloud, b 1867 d 1880 William Cloud b abt 1871 Albert Cloud b abt 1875 Mary Cloud b abt 1878 Stella Cloud b 1880 d 1928 Samuel M Cloud b 11/19/1885 Wesley Francis Cloud (My grandfather) b 7/16/1888 d 4/1/1969; married Artie Christine McPhereson, b 1896 d 1960. (This is were the McPherson’s and Abbots come in) As the story goes, my father was always told that they were part Blackfoot Sioux, and Cherokee. The family name was changed from McCloud at some time, and he believes that his great grand father was a trapper, but remembers no names past his father and uncles. His grandparents had already passed on by the time he was born. Three years after dad was born his father is in the North Dakota census of 1930, but Margaret is still in Indiana. Wesley (Frank) is staying with a family called Fleming. Sometime after that they whole family moved to Michigan. I am really stuck at William Marion. It is beloved that his father is James Washington Cloud, but I can not connect him to any of the clouds after that. I have not really connected William to James Washington except that I was told someone had a death certificate for William Marion that list James Washington Cloud as his father, and a Nancy Unknown as his mother. I have never been able to locate or see a copy of this however. Any he! lp would be really appreciated, even if you could point me in the right direction. Thanks ahead of time for any help.
