For those of you who may be looking into this thread for Indian connections, I have found mine thanks to Raymond Dennis. I discovered that my Cloud line is not of Indian heritage. However, my gggrandfather, Joseph F. Cloud, married Nancy Cox, a Cherokee woman. Joseph and Nancy's granddaughter, Mary Frances "Fannie" Cloud is listed as an applicant on the Guion Miller Roll. I now have a copy of two applications she submitted. The last application states that she was rejected because her brother had previously applied. She would have been accepted under HIS application. His application was not rejected. I have also found her brother, Jacob Lewis "Jake" Cloud's name listed on the Guion Miller Roll. So our mystery is now solved - we DO have Cherokee ancestry, but it is through our gggrandmother, not our gggrandfather as we had previously thought.
