Imagene: I agree with you that 1) there were at least two Benjamin Franklin Clouds born approximately the same time [about 1770]; 2) I also believe that your Benjamin Franklin Cloud married Susannah Bondurant; 3) I also believe their son Benjamin Franklin Cloud b. about 1834 [the physician] as you say married Columbia Bouldin. 4) I also believe that the Benjamin Franklin Cloud b. 1826 married to Nancy Middleton was the son of Greenberry Cloud. As to whether Greenberry Cloud (married to Barthena) was the brother of Benjamin Cloud (married to Susannah), I have my doubts. This Greenberry can first be found in the 1820 Census of Lee County, VA and more closely connected with the Lee County, VA Clouds as well as the Chadwells and then after that date is found in Claiborne County, VA. This is a new study for me but I want to line up all the Clouds in the census [1810; 1820; 1830; & 1840] by name and age in that vicinity and see what the entire picture looks like. There are several candidates such as Samual Sr. and Jeremiah [the older members] are listed in the Claiborne Co. TN 1830 census. It is interesting to note that there was another Benjamin Cloud a little younger in Scott Co. VA in the 1830 Census. I have heard a lot of stories about how Joseph Cloud "came over the mountain" to Claiborne Co. TN but it should be noted that in 1830 he is still found in the 1830 census of Hawkins Co. TN and if he was ever in Claiborne Co. TN he was preceded by several other Clouds. Let's keep looking. It is possible that earlier genealogists confused these individuals and never took the actual ages into account. Of course, both Benjamin Franklin Cloud's i.e. the one that married Susanna and the one that married Mary Polly Chadwell could not have both been children of Captain William Cloud since they were approximately the same age. The only reason I bought into the idea that the Benjamin F. Cloud that married Mary Polly Chadwell was the son of Captain William Cloud is that they can be traced back to the area Captain William Cloud lived in VA. As a final note, these Clouds must have been very fond of "The" Benjamin Franklin. An interesting study is that of the "State of Franklin". I have seen documents that showed that Walter Middleton the first husband of Mary Polly Chadwell played a part in that story. Later, his son Walter Middleton Jr. became the father of Nancy Middleton the wife of our other Benjamin Franklin Cloud b. 1826 TN. Ron Wilson
