My wife is a Cloud descendent and we have done quite a lot of research on her family. If I were you I would research the area around the Cumberland Gap were the States of Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee intersect. In general an entire line of the Cloud family originating in England, landed in New Castle, Delaware and migrated west and down the Wilderness path by way of Frederick, Maryland and further down to North Carolina and a few even further into South Carolina, some then going west county by county to Lee County, Virgina and then on to Tazwell, Tennessee and Kentucky. Later, some moved into Kentucky and up to Indiana. I suggest you research the family of Captain William Cloud b. 17 Sep 1750 in North Carolina. I have a hunch your Cloud is a descendent. Ron Wilson
