Although I do not know that I have any connection to him, I do have a connection to a fellow passenger John Pierre Bondurant. About four generations later, descendant Richard Bondurant married Elizabeth Cloud in Rockingham County, North Carolina. I have been unable to connect Elizabeth to any of the well-researched Cloud lines, and I wonder if the name Claud might have become Cloud a few generations later. Roberta
A Granville Co. (NC) tax list of 1751 shows a Joseph Cloud living in the Dan River area. I'm not 100% sure, but I think he was in a section of what later became Rockingham. I also think there's every reason to believe that this was the same Joseph Cloud who subsequently settled on Peter's Creek in Rowan>Surry>Stokes Co., NC, and Henry>Patrick Co., VA. One of his grandsons, Benj. F. Cloud (son of William, of Henry Co., VA) married Susannah Bondurant, and I seem to recall that there was another intermarriage. These Clouds were definitely not Huguenots. As for the Eliz. Cloud you mention, it's certainly possible that she was a daughter of Joseph (which would mean that she was an aunt of the Benj. F. whjo married Susannah Bondurant). We know the names of Joseph's sons but not of the daughters (assuming he had some).
