I am forwarding these posts to the list in the hope that we can all, together, help preserve these cemeteries. A contact for questions: Ted Urquhart President Alabama Cemetery Preservation Alliance <ted.urquhart@cox.net> .................. The hearing on abandonment of the cemetery is Tuesday, allowing for construction over it. http://www.mc-ala.org/ The Pinkston Cemetery is not a McDade burial ground, but it is on the same preservation list as the McDade-Manning Springs Cemetery. Historic burial grounds should be preserved. The people who built this country -- who put their lives on the line to do so -- deserve more respect.
