Carol Carwile Head founded the CLOUD list, which was originally hosted at indiana.edu. It was later moved to rootsweb, which was then a free service. Because it was one of the first lists on rootsweb, it was granted immunity from their policy of requiring a donation to keep it going. That is also why our list doesn't have the commercial tag lines of the other lists that came along later. In November of 1996 there were only 5 members -- see below -- and the list was still on the Indiana.edu server (i.e. not at rootsweb.com). Carol asked me to take over administration of the list in March of 1998 and I have administered it since. WRT our Cloud family web presence. Barbara, et al I wasn't fishing for kudos, but thanks anyway! I wrote those two emails about our history for two reasons: 1 - I thought it ought to be said -- Carol Head and Cecil Stokes were the prime movers in this. 2 - I also want to see the list (and our web presence) be more active. It seems we've fallen into a malaise.
