ORN Olive, There is a link to "Windows Update" -- it may be on your Desktop or in your Start folder (click the Start button on your task bar and ... look there ... if not there, click the 'Programs' link in that same 'Start' list and look there. If you've not updated in awhile, you will have a bunch of updates. I recommend you study the list and only do the critical updates. ** some of those updates may cause your computer to be unstable! That's why I say to look at them. You will want to also do any updates to Media Player and Internet Explorer. I also suggest two free products that you install in addition to your McAfee: - Spybot Search & Destroy - SpywareBlaster And, one that costs a little - Spy Sweeper (and don't believe the hype on TV about the Apple vs. PC -- a little research will answer questions about that) If it's been awhile since you updated, you could spend several hours doing it now ... and, if you're on dial-up, you can probably go to the store while it's taking place. Here is the link to the Yahoo news item about the just-discovered vulnerability: http://news.yahoo.com/s/cmp/20060811/tc_cmp/191901665 What often happens is -- a security researcher finds a way to use a feature of Windows to do things it's not supposed to do. They notify Microsoft and also publish what they found. Bad people read those publications and then work real fast to see if they can mess up your computer before Microsoft can issue a patch -- and before you install it. Tom
