    3. Thia could be the Joseph Cloud, son of Capt. Wm. Cloud (Rev. War) refer to: "Chadwell Heritage" by Myrtle W. Braun & Sharon Chadwell Phillips 1973- Phillips Press. 1. Joseph was great-grandfather of Alexander Moore Cloud. According to Alexander Joseph settled in Stokes Co, NC. (according to "Chadwell" he married Nancy Jane Moore. He came over the mountains to TN in the latter part of the nineteeth century and settled on a large tract of land including what is now Bean Station.     3. Joe - The estimated birth date of Joseph, son of William (Rev. S.) is 1789, meaning he would have been 11 years old in 1800. His uncle, William's brother -- Capt. Joseph Cloud -- was very prominent in Stokes Co. at that time and was frequently called on to be an estate executor or witness. The question of which of all the possible Josephs was the great-grandfather of Alexander Moore Cloud of Tazewell, TN, has been hotly argued for many years. I count myself as in the camp of those who think it was Capt. Joe, through his son Benjamin Franklin Cloud. That view would hold that he (Joseph) did indeed come "over the mountains," but after a number of years went back over them to his old home on Peter's Creek.
