Joe -- a couple of other points. Most of the records I have seen point to Jane Carpenter as the wife of Joseph son of William. As for the "Nancy Jane Moore" mentioned in the Chadwell book, the generally agreed-upon wife of Joseph Cloud Sr.(1709-abt 1778), father of Captains Joseph and William Cloud, was Nancy Moore (making her those boys' mother, of course, and the grandmother of the Joseph you write about). I have never seen the "Jane" before.
