Hi Tom: I have copies of three primary documents regarding the subject Cloud line. The first two are wills from each of the parties named above and who's estate's were probated in Fairfield Co. SC. Then there is the will of their grandson William Cloud (son of Daniel) who married Sarah and moved to Madison Co. AL in early 1800's. His will was in probate court for 50 years; yes, 50 years! Plus a few other documents along the way that I don't recall the details just now. An outline of my Cloud ancestors has been posted to the Internet. It is part of the Lincoln Co. TN roots web data page and has also been included in the CLOUD data collected and posted by the current President of the Cloud Family Association; Cecil Stokes. However, if you wish, I can make a GEDCOM file on my Cloud line that usually gives a reference for each posting on my main line of descent; but little reference data on related lines. I need a little Cloud help from someone near Lamar County, TX. A Francis Cloud was living in Jackson County, AL in 1830. He and his family migrated to Lamar County, TX in 1849. He died in Lamar County in 1854 and his will was probated in that county. One might assume that he was buried somewhere in Lamar County. His will named seven children, all born in Jackson County, AL. They were: James, Mariah, William, Catherine, George, Nancy and Isaac. The children married and settled in various TX counties. John Franklin Cloud born in 1810 in Stokes County, NC migrated with other family members to Jackson County, AL. They arrived in about 1840. John Franklin married Eliza Jones, daughter of Robert Jr. and Mary (Wilson) Jones of GA and Jackson County. They married in about 1840. Their children were: Mary, William, Robert G., Victoria, Arthur and Thomas. All the children were born in Jackson County. John Franklin and his family migrated to Lamar County, TX between 1860 and 1870. The family was listed in the Lamar County 1870 census. John Franklin and Eliza Cloud disappear from the scene after 1870. Their son, Robert G. Cloud married Sarah Jane Melton in Lamar County sometime between 1870 and 1876. They lived in the Maxey Community in Lamar County. Robert G. died March 1, 1918 and was buried in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Lamar County, TX. I don't have the date of death for his wife. Robert G. and Sarah Jane (Melton) Cloud had a son named Thomas W. born October 19, 1876. He died on August 18, 1883 and was buried in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Lamar County, TX. Robert G. and Sarah had another son named Robert Victor who married Linnie Strother. Robert V. and Linnie lived for over fifty years on the Robert G. home place. Robert Victor died at home on September 24, 1956 and was buried in Meadowbrook Cemetery, Lamar County, TX. I don't have the death date for Linnie. I'm seeking copies of any documents relating to John Franklin and Eliza Cloud and the dates of their deaths and location of burial. The family name was changed from McCloud at some time, and he believes that his great grand father was a trapper, but remembers no names past his father and uncles. His grandparents had already passed on by the time he was born. Three years after dad was born his father is in the North Dakota census of 1930, but Margaret is still in Indiana. Wesley (Frank) is staying with a family called Fleming. Sometime after that they whole family moved to Michigan. I am really stuck at William Marion. It is beloved that his father is James Washington Cloud, but I can not connect him to any of the clouds after that. I have not really connected William to James Washington except that I was told someone had a death certificate for William Marion that list James Washington Cloud as his father, and a Nancy Unknown as his mother. I have never been able to locate or see a copy of this however. Any he! lp would be really appreciated, even if you could point me in the right direction. Thanks ahead of time for any help.
