My Grandmother's name was Grace Ohler from TX. Jack & Margaret had a son John his wife was Vangie. They were instermental in starting the Quartzsite Jamboree that is held every year. They had family in colarado & Utah I believe. Margaret had siblings I just can't remeber their names but one had a rock shop in Quartzsite & a relative also ran the grocery store. I was hoping they could fill in some blanks in our family tree. Thanks, Janey from Fresno CA
I have secondary material that says that Reuben was willed to son James H. Cloud, not John. My secondary material is not consistently reliable, but if it is true that Reuben was willed to James H., you might have some luck if you explore documents related to James H. Cloud. ----- Original Message ----- From: <dellabeaver@comcast.net> To: <CLOUD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 09, 2003 5:48 AM Subject: [CLOUD-L] Re: African-American CLOUD > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Cloud, Herald, Harrell > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YNJ.2ACIB/149.163.212.2 > > Message Board Post: > > I too am looking for the Clouds in South Carolina. I have added the wills of both Joseph and Martha to my webpage. See www.cloudweb.org Find Joseph and then look at notes, both will are last thing in the notes area. I know that many of you Cloud researchers have visited my Cloud webpage, but I have recently added another feature. I have added a list of about 2900 Clouds that are in my data, but for whom I have been unable to connect to our main Cloud line. Some of the folks may be linked with several generations shown, but not linked to the main line. If you have been looking for a particular person and they did not show up in my big listing, they may be here. See the listing at www.cloudweb.org <http://www.cloudweb.org/> Hope these folks can be linked up with your help. Ken Cloud
And Ruth Clouds show up. I have a William Sturdivant Married to Ruth Cloud in Va or NC. She died between 1842 and 1850. I was under the impression that when William Sturdivant came to Hamilton Co., IN, she had relatives that came with. Do you have any information that might match this. Willliam and Ruth had 2 children, Martha b. 1841 and Shepherd b 1842. William later married Carolyn Bowers Jackson in NC? Joyce -- the reason I was interested in your Ruth Cloud from Surry or Stokes Co., NC, is that it is one more piece of evidence that ties the Clouds of that area -- most if not all descending from the the Surry-Stokes settler we call Joseph Cloud of Peter's Creek (abt. 1710 -- abt 1779) to the Jos. Cloud who was living adjacent to Isaac Cloud in Brunswick Co., VA, in the 1740s and who was without doubt his brother. Isaac had two daughters, Elizabeth and Ruth, the latter named -- I believe -- for Ruth Jervis Cloud of Chester Co., PA, whom I think was the mother of Isaac and Joseph. Assuming that I'm right, I would have expected the name "Ruth" to be carried forward in Joseph's family, and you seem to be confirming that. Unfortunately, as you know, the records of the times are often silent with regard to females, and we know the names of very few of those early Cloud women in NC.
