Dear friends, Please keep your virus software up-to-date -- the viruses keep getting more deadly. They mimic email addresses from people you know attempting to get you to open an attachment -- then it's out-of-the-bag and you're in a world of hurt! W32.Beagle and new variants of W32.Mydoom are making their rounds now. They delete files and otherwise crater your computer. ***** Remember to keep backups of your files, just in case. Also, remember to update your operating system software on a regular basis (Windows Update). sincerely, Tom Cloud
Thanks Lura
Hi, I don't really have a clue (and I don't believe this is in my line), but William is in the 1860 census at age 30. William was born in Tennessee. I looked in 1840 census, although actual census was unavailable on line. Since in the 1860 census William was in Sullivan County, these are the names of the heads of household in 1840 Sullivan County, TN: Benjamin (on p.32), George (p.32) and Henderson (p.47). It could be that William named his son after his father (Henderson). I was hoping to get a gander at the census to see if Henderson had a son in about the age 10 bracket, which would give a little more info, although not precise. Good luck in your search. Lura
Hi, I am searching for any information on Henderson C. Cloud born 1856-7 in Tennessee. Mattie Jenette (Nettie) Pile or Pyle born in 1868 in Tennessee. They were married 17 June 1889 in Sullivan County, Tennessee. They had 3 childred. 1. Leta Cloud b. 1891 2. James Cloud b. 1897 3. Verlie Cloud b.1902 Henderson's father and mother are William Sinclair Cloud and Emeline Myrers. I really would like to find out who are William's parents and where they came from. Thank you, Joretta

Lyle G. Cloud of Littleton CO has been doing extensive research on his line for several years. He has determined that his research has revealed certain errors in his line as previously set down. He has agreed to allow the Cloudweb to publish his work and conclusions. If your Clooud ancestral line includes any of the following persons, then you probably will want to take a fresh look at the Cloud data at www.cloudweb.org The line includes: 1-Thomas CLOUD sp- Margaret CARSON 2- Nathaniel CLOUD sp- Rebecca MCCULLUM 3- Nathaniel CLOUD Jr. sp- Mary ADKINS 4- James Noah CLOUD sp- Rachel CROWLEY The research documents he has published may also be viewed on the Cloudweb site. How to coordinate the resources of this email list, the bulletin boards and the various web sites. How to stimulate activity and drive away those dark "clouds" of mystery surrounding so many of our ancestors. thanks, Tom Cloud
Tom, I have been working on the Cloud lineage & database. My wife is A Cloud from the South Carolina Clouds, descended from Austin Cloud. I have a database for Clouds. It contains name, generation, date of birth & death, where born, mother & father and spouse. Some categories are blank, of course. I have close to 1100 names, and lots more to go. I have my wife's lineage on my website (www.wvskiles.com) feel free to peruse and I would be more than willing to share whatever I have. Dear Cloud researchers / cousins; As you probably know, I am the administrator for this Cloud surname email list as well as for the Cloud bulletin boards on rootsweb. That lofty title means nothing -- it is only something I undertook to help us all out. Many of you have done or are doing similar things. The reasons I write are: 1 - I want some input from you as to what can be done to: a. make the list and bulletin boards more useful b. increase the "traffic" on them so that there will be more information available to us. c. perhaps some "promotion" .... I am a total "dud" when it comes to charisma. The Dalton list has an eighty-year woman (Millicent Dalton) who does an absolute bang-up job .... makes me feel like a complete loser! ..... if anyone has any ideas and maybe wants to be the promoter, let me know. 2 - I want suggestions about: a. the various web sites we have for Cloud family histories .... specifically, I have attempted to make the site I maintain (http://mykindred.com/cloud) be a central "jumping-off" site, but I'm not pleased with it. b. do you have any suggestions for how we can better coordinate and integrate the various web sites and data together? 3 - WRT this email list, specifically, I would like some ideas for the "tag lines" that appear in sequence at the bottom of the emails from the list. There are ten "rotating" tag lines. I have chosen to put pointers there to three things -- the two mirror Cloud Family Association sites (1) http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cloud, (2) http://mykindred.com/cloud and (3) to the genealogical kindness site (can't remember its exact name right now ... think it's "practice random acts of genealogical kindness" or something like that. ... soliciting suggestions for the utilization of the tag lines. Keep in mind as you mull over your suggestions: - all of this is done by volunteers, so creative cajoling is much more productive than being forceful. - many of the web sites are bought and paid for by the people who have their pages on them -- like the mykindred.com site. None of them, to my knowledge, are owned by the Cloud Family Association. Obviously, they aren't going to cotton to people telling them what to put on them. Once again, creative cajoling is the way to go. All of us, I think, share the same goals -- to make research easier for everyone and to find out more for ourselves and to meet new cousins -- so they might be very interested in anything that lets them feel their contributions are being used and appreciated. .... think about it and write me -- either on or off-list thanks, Tom Cloud
