6325MiiiCharles Russell CLOUD was born 10 Nov 1908 in Grant City, Barton Co., MO. He died 10 Oct 1976 in Richland, WA. Charles married Florence Luella SPENCER Florence Luella Cloud Patterson Einan's Funeral Home Florence Luella Cloud Patterson passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2006. Florence was born to Thaddeus Edger Spencer and Lulu Alice Gregory Spencer in Seneca, Nebraska, on March 26, 1912. Florence moved to Shell, Wyoming, as a girl and grew up on her parents' ranch where she spent much of her time exploring the great outdoors and riding her beloved horses. Florence grew into a beautiful woman and met and married the love of her life, Charles Russell Cloud. They married in the mid-1930s. Florence and Russell moved to the Puget Sound area several years later and eventually moved to the Tri-Cities in 1950. They owned the Richland Bakery until it was tragically lost in a fire in 1957. After the fire, Florence obtained her real estate license and worked for a local agency. She later worked out in the Hanford Area and retired from there. Florence dearly loved her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife and a wonderful friend. She loved to laugh, travel, camp in her motorhome, and fish. She had many fond memories of riding horses and her life as a child growing up on the ranch in Wyoming. Florence was an avid photographer, an accomplished artist and she loved to play the organ. Florence is preceded in death by her beloved first husband, Charles Russell Cloud; her second husband and best friend, Paul C. Patterson; and her precious daughter, Nancy Lou Galloway. Florence is survived by her son, Charles Thaddeus Cloud and his wife, Ruth of Gillette, Wyoming; her grandson, Robert Bradford Watts and his wife, Christy of Kennewick, Washington; grandson, Charles Bryan Cloud and his wife, Melissa of Orlando, Florida; granddaughter, Sandra Nichole Bowker and her husband, Joey of Gillette, Wyoming; granddaughter, Jennifer Loraine Cloud, who is attending graduate school in Ruston, Louisiana; and David Duane Galloway of New York, New York, as well as numerous great-grandchildren. Florence's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Emmanuel Care in Kennewick for their love and compassion during her stay with them. A memorial service to celebrate Florence's life will be held on Friday, January 20, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Einan's Funeral Home in Richland. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be sent to The Hospice at the Chaplaincy, 2108 W. Entiat Ave., Kennewick, WA 99337. Express your thoughts and memories in the online guest book at www.einansfuneralhome.com.

My wife is a Cloud descendent and we have done quite a lot of research on her family. If I were you I would research the area around the Cumberland Gap were the States of Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee intersect. In general an entire line of the Cloud family originating in England, landed in New Castle, Delaware and migrated west and down the Wilderness path by way of Frederick, Maryland and further down to North Carolina and a few even further into South Carolina, some then going west county by county to Lee County, Virgina and then on to Tazwell, Tennessee and Kentucky. Later, some moved into Kentucky and up to Indiana. I suggest you research the family of Captain William Cloud b. 17 Sep 1750 in North Carolina. I have a hunch your Cloud is a descendent. Ron Wilson

I AM LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON THE JOSEPH CLOUD THAT APPEARED ON ON THE 1820 CENSUS FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY, INDIANA. I BELIEVE THAT HE MIGRATED TO THIS AREA IN INDIANA PRIOR TO, OR AROUND 1810. The History Channel will premiere "Eighty Acres of Hell", the story of the Union's Camp Douglas where 6,000 Confederate troops perished, on Sunday http://www.historychannel.com/ "To the Victor, Belongs the Silence." Hidden until now, we uncover an important and shocking chapter of the War Between the States. Although our nation is well-versed about the atrocities committed against Union POWs at Andersonville, Georgia, few have heard of the wholesale annihilation of Confederate prisoners at Camp Douglas in Chicago, Illinois (12,000 inmates were incarcerated, 6,000 never left). Unlike Andersonville, Camp Douglas had the resources necessary to house and care for its prisoners, but calculated cruelty, torture, and neglect by the US military conspired to exterminate Southern soldiers who entered this "80 Acres of Hell". But, Southern prisoners were not the only victims. Under martial law, prominent Chicago citizens were unjustly tried and imprisoned by a ruthless military tribunal. From 1862 to 1866, more than 6,000 Rebel prisoners and 14 civilians died at the hands of a corrupt and murderous system with tentacles to the White House". Please also note a film on "Lincoln" will be aired the following night, Monday the 16th.. It appears that this will not be the typical politically correct vignette but will investigate a number of his less than flattering behaviors frequently overlooked by Lincoln apologists. Some highlights of the controversial film can be viewed at http://www.historychannel.com/Lincoln/didyouknow.html My Great Great Grandfather Thomas Benjamin Smith spent a little over a year at this prison camp during the Civil War. Rex NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION BEING PASSED AROUND: Subject: Happy New Year! Cousins NEWS FLASH. 1852 NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS SOLVE GENEALOGICAL MYSTERIES. It is New Year's Eve 1852 and Henry HYDENWELL sits at his desk by candlelight. He dips his quill pen in ink and begins to writes his New Year's resolutions. 1. No man is truly well-educated unless he learns to spell his name at least three different ways within the same document. I resolve to give the appearance of being extremely well-educated in the coming year. 2. I resolve to see to it that all of my children will have the same names that my ancestors have used for six generations in a row. 3. My age is no one's business but my own. I hereby resolve to never list the same age or birth year twice on any document. 4. I resolve to have each of my children baptized in a different church -- either in a different faith or in a different parish. Every third child will not be baptized at all or will be baptized by an itinerant minister who keeps no records. 5. I resolve to move to a new town, new county, or new state at least once every 10 years -- just before those pesky enumerators come around asking silly questions. 6. I will make every attempt to reside in counties and towns where no vital records are maintained or where the courthouse burns down every few years. 7. I resolve to join an obscure religious cult that does not believe in record keeping or in participating in military service. 8. When the tax collector comes to my door, I'll loan him my pen, which has been dipped in rapidly fading blue ink. 9. I resolve that if my beloved wife Mary should die, I will marry another Mary. 10. I resolve not to make a will. Who needs to spend money on a lawyer? REPRINTS.
