    1. RE: [Clooz] Multiple databases?

    3. Hello Mike, Now that I'm filing everything according to document type, it seems logical to me to maintain two separate databases. My maternal and paternal lines are in one, my husbands in another. We don't have children but we do have some nieces who are quite interested in my hobby. I don't think my husband's niece would be very interested in my family and the niece I have my eye on from my side wouldn't be interested in my husband's lines. I sure wouldn't want to have to figure out how to separate the two trees when the time comes to hand everything on. I want to give each niece a complete package. I have separate d/bs in my genealogy programme, separate sets of binders for the docs, separate backup disks. If I have to remove a document from a binder I can tell immediately where to put it back because I've used different colour inks on the page protector labels. I've learned that you need to do a lot of thinking before you start using Clooz. You must think of the documents you're likely to be working with in five and ten years time, not just what you now have on hand. You must also think of quantity as well as kind. You wouldn't want to face the possibility of having to renumber an entire section because you started off numbering them 01, 02 and later found that you're actually going to have more than 99 of that type of doc. Pat has made the prog. very flexible and hasn't given us a lot of hard and fast rules re. naming and numbering docs which means that we have to do our own thinking. However, there are some good suggestions in the manual. Documents have never been so accessible--it's wonderful being able to find what I want in a minute instead of having to spend half a day looking for it! Hope this helps a bit.
