    1. Re: [Clooz] what is the secret to getting names into clooz?
    2. Gail Budda
    3. Actually - I did respond to the FTM question. My new browser doesn't automatically respond to "all" so the response only went to the sender. However, just in case there are other's who have had problems, here is my response to some (though not all) FTM difficulties. I am still working on my own issues with Word2000... Gail M - I have been having problems as well, but I am determined to get it in. Here is how I have succeeded thus far. In FTM (I have 7.0 as well) select REPORT then ITEMS TO INCLUDE IN REPORT. In the right-hand column you will have a list of all your items. Select NAME by clicking on it once, then click OPTIONS. Here you can select (from a drop-down box) how you would like your name to display - select Last, First You will rename your titles AFTER the file is exported (copied and pasted into Word). FTM does not have the capability of changing field names. This is so the columns will be recognized in Clooz since PersonID,Surname,Given, etc. are the names Liz gave to the columns in her program. Make sure the title row is at the VERY TOP of the screen - delete any blank row between the top and the title row - that's a problem I had. Now - in WORD97 (I'm using 2000, but I would imagine 97 works the same way - hope so) - select EDIT/FIND. At the bottom of the tab form click MORE. At the bottom of that tab, click SPECIAL. A drop-down box will come up that will allow you to select some special marks. Select TAB CHARACTER. After you select it, it will display "^t" in the FIND field. Click on the REPLACE tab and type a comma "," (without the quotes) in the field. [ NOTE: I tried to also put in a SPACE CHARACTER, but it didn't work. Even though it looked like there were spaces in between the fields, I guess there really weren't.] Select "REPLACE" and Word will replace the tabs with commas as promised. After it's done, note that Word will put in a comma for every tab, even those places where you were missing a surname or other piece of information. Leave them there. If you have 6 titles/columns you will have 5 commas, one marker for each column. Don't change this - these are placeholders. Do a "SAVE AS" and select "TEXT ONLY (*.txt). The file should be named cloozimp.txt and saved to your Clooz directory. Ok - this is as far as I was able to get. I also got an "unable to import" error message. The new manual (thank goodness there is now a manual!) says a driver file called mstext35.dll should be in your C:\Windows\System directory. Check to see if it is there. If not, go to http://www.ancestordetective.com/kbsa.htm and download it. When I went to that site, it said it didn't exist - however, I was determined so I went directly to www.clooz.com, selected SUPPORT from the menu at the left, the KNOWLEDGE BASE from the center of the screen. It took me to http://www.clooz.com/kbsa.htm [I guess there was a typo in the manual - it happens]. Here you will find lots of error messages and the "solutions". I have Access 2000, so will be looking at those solutions - since that won't help you, I will advise you to go on from this point. Good Luck! If you get it to work, please let me know us know what resolved the issue. You are not the only one out there with a problem.
