I'm not sure how many of you are aware that I'm involved in bringing another genealogy utility to market, hopefully next quarter. I wanted to let the list know because the pre-publication price expires on 1 January 2001. The program is called GeneWeaver and it will help you with your family health history. There is some information available at http://www.geneweaveronline.com. You can order from the Web site if you're interested, but your charge card won't be charged until we ship. We're expecting to ship by the end of March. The program is currently in beta testing and the testing is going well. There will be a GEDCOM import routine into GeneWeaver so you can import the people you have in your genealogy program. The difference between GeneWeaver and a genealogy program is that GeneWeaver looks specifically at health issues caused by any number of factors, including genetic, environmental, etc. You'll be able to print a Medical Pedigree, similar in format to a regular pedigree chart, but it will show mortality information on four generations. You'll also be able to print a genogram, so you can clearly see with symbols what your ancestors died from. GeneWeaver is interested in four generations at a time because that's what is genetically significant. But you'll be able to shift generations to look at another set of four generations. I'm very excited about the program and think there will be a lot of interest in it. There's currently nothing similar available for family historians. I'm working on this with my partner, Norma Storrs Keating, who is a registered nurse (don't look to me for health information!). We are producing the program under our corporate name, Genes & Things, Inc. We'll have a booth for Genes & Things, Inc. right next to Ancestor Detective, LLC, at GenTech, so stop by for a demo if you're interested. The program will sell for $49.95 plus shipping after 1 January, but if you order now it's $39.95.
