I need some help. I archived my data on a rewritable cd and when I tried to restore it, I get a screen that says the following: "Error 3051, The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file D:\050418_040828_040827_taylor.mdb. It is already opened exclusively by another user or you need permission to view its data. mdlUtility:fnAttachTables." I have version 1.23 and have just ordered the version 2 today. All my files have .mdb on them and have quite a bit of data on the taylor.mdb. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help you can provide. I was doing quite a bit of genealogy until I hit roadblocks. _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! Laura, why don't you do in to Windows Explorer and delete all the dates so the file is just called taylor.mdb and try again. The name might be too long. I dont' think that Windows XP is a problem with the file name, as there can be 128 characters in the file name - now it does make the indexing of the file system take longer - but that was one of the larger benefits that came early on - as I have my archives as "Clooz2a-2006-JUL-13-001" ----- Original Message ---- From: "Elizabeth Kelley Kerstens, CG, CGL" <liz@ancestordetective.com> To: Clooz-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, July 13, 2006 7:44:18 AM Subject: Re: [Clooz] unable to restore backup from cd Laura, why don't you do in to Windows Explorer and delete all the dates so the file is just called taylor.mdb and try again. The name might be too long for Clooz, not for Win XP. Clooz 1.23 was written in Access 97, which by today's standards, has a lot of quirks. Laura, Try the following: 1. Go to Windows Explorer to view your files on the rewritable CD. Find the file that you want to restore. 2. Copy the needed file to a place on your hard drive, such as the My Documents folder. Right click the copied file, click on properties. Make sure that the read-only box is NOT checked. If you see a check, in that box, click on it to remove it. 3. While you are still in Windows Explorer, you may want to rename the newly copied file. To do so, right click on the file and rename. 4. Close Windows Explorer, start Clooz, and try the restore procedure again. Hope this helps, Fawn A Clooz user, not a document loser. --- LAURA Taylor-Hanson <lauraltaylor@msn.com> wrote: > I need some help.
