I'll take your good suggestion to use the donor name for the source on photos. For photos from my own personal collection I've decided to make the film roll number the source. Then I can link the prints, negatives and photo Cd's to the original film number. Pretty much the same as any archival place would do. I use the film roll and frame no. in naming the digital image of negatives, slides are identified by the album, page and position on the page i.e. the "pocket' they are in; and the dates and a serial number for scans and digital photos i.e 060725S001 (scan) 060725P001 (digital photo), so the negatives, the prints, digital files and the Personal File No are all the same for any specific image. For "hard-copy" photos from others they are simply identified sequentially PH0001 etc.and the digital files the same but with the extension, i.e. .jpg or .tif I hope that these suggestions will benefit you in creating some kind of source. In using this methodology, you will also be leaving behind a little history for your descendants. Fawn A Clooz user, not a document loser.
