    1. Efficient way to enter Census data...

    3. Barbara: I've tried each one of these iterations... and then decided as I was replacing an older to PC to use two PCs with two monitors... but with one a/b switch with one keyboard and one mouse. The monitors are beside each other and it allows for a better working area... in my opinion... This process always works well when I'm transcribing from any other type of document/image. Here are things I have tried or have considered. I have a subscription to Ancestry, so I can get the census records online. I always print them out, but the printed copy is almost too small to read. I have tried typing directly from the online record to Clooz by tileing the windows and having both programs open side by side (or above and below). I can make the census record large enough on the screen to be easily readable, but there is a lot of scrolling back and forth, etc. using this method, and it is very time-consuming. I have considered using a magnifier on the printed copy and typing from it. This would probably require 2 bar magnifiers--one for the headings and one for the census line. I have also considered filling in a blank census form (on paper like I previously did from the microfilm at the library), and when I have a stack of them, opening Clooz and entering the data from the paper copy. What has worked for others? Barbara Allen bhallen@sbcglobal.net

    3. Jim & Barbara, I also use two monitors, but only one computer. If you are using Windows XP, you can change the monitor setting to handle both monitors on one computer. I am able to open several programs and use the internet, ex. at Ancestry.com. When I want to save a census report, I print out the whole census sheet, then I enlarge that image that I want to be able to read easier (names, age, etc.) and print out, using "current view" and print that on the back side of my sheet where I printed the whole census. Most of the info that I want is on the left side of the census, but then if I want the other info, I just use a magnifier if I can't read the image, but usually I am able to read that information. The good and bad of using two monitors is that after using two monitors, it is hard to go back to using a single monitor...lol. I hope this helps, Cathy ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Smith<mailto:jsmith58@tampabay.rr.com> To: Clooz-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:Clooz-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 08, 2006 7:50 AM Subject: [Clooz] Efficient way to enter Census data...
