Jerry, I use this system to enter my DOCUMENTS so that when my main Documents screen comes up, I can find my info directly from the main Document screen. I found that the Manual example duplicates information on that screen. Manual example on page 50 Personal File # Event + Birth 001 Birth 1956 Birth 005 Birth 1924 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Mine looks like this: BirMIN001 Thomas Minshall birth 1850 BirKLE001 John Klenk birth 1850 This tells me that these are Birth records for the Minshall or Klenk families and the person whos birth it is on the document. CemSpG001 Elizabeth Goodrich death 1916 CemStJ001 Joseph Minshall death 1954 This tells me that the Cemetery is Spring Grove or Cemetery is St. Joseph and the Event field shows me who is buried there and the death date) Again it has the Cemetery's sorted on my main Document screen. DeaCertMIN001 Fred Minshall 1949 DeaCertKLE001 John Klenk 1901 Tells me that these are Death Certificates for either the Minshall or Klenk families. ChBapMIN001 Fred Minshall 1878 ChMarMin001 Sophia Minshall 1900 ChBapKLE001 John Klenk 1888 Again this sorts on the main Document screen that these are Church Baptism or Marriage records for either the Minshall or Klenk family and the people that are the main person on the record and the date of the event. NewsMIN001 Sophia Minshall death 1969 NewsKle001 John Klenk death 1901 NewsKle002 John Klenk marriage 1870 This will tell me that it is a newspaper article on Sophia or John's death and John's marriage with the year of the event. WillMIN001 Sophia Minshall will 1968 WillKLE001 John Klenk, Jr will 1959 This will tell me that these are wills for the Minshall or Klenk family and the event col. tells me the person who's will it is. ShpKLE001 Passenger list ShpBRA001 Passenger list This will tell me that these are Passenger list for the Klenk or Brausch families. I found that listing Birth in both the Personal File # and in the Event field duplicates the same info. I wanted to list in the Event field the name of the person, that way I could quickly find the individual I wanted without having to look at the book where I stored my original document or at the entered data unless I needed more information When I started entering my data I followed the Manual, but decided to change it to help me find my info quicker, maybe in 10 seconds :) I hope that this is helpful.
