The stand-alone version of 1.23 does not require you to install Access, but the Access versions do. Version 2 is not written in Access. It's written in Visual Basic.net. There will only be one version. You do not need to have Microsoft Access to use Clooz (and you didn't for 1.23 either, if you installed the stand-alone version). Your database will still be a Microsoft Access database and if you want to view it outside of Clooz, you will need to use Microsoft Access 2003 to do so.
