I'd like to get the opinions of the group as to the best way to assign numbers to identify documents. For example; Death could be for an obituary, a death cert., book reference, tombstone, letters, etc. How are you classifying these, all as death, D001, D002, or are you breaking them down further. My dilemma is filing. Do you file all items relating to death under "D" or do you file under "O" for obit, or file certificates in a Vital Records book and everything else separate? I thought I'd canvass the group in order to get a variety of options. Thanks for your input, J. GROVES-HURT
