I have made photocopies of all original documents I have (for example the original birth certificates for myself and my parents). I have given these photocopies document numbers like BIRTH-001, BIRTH-002, etc. I'm now wondering how people number the originals that go with these photocopies, and also how they would number the associated scans kept on a CD with photos. Is it better to use the same number as the photocopy but with an O or S appended (BIRTH-001-O, BIRTH-001-S) or perhaps with an indicator in front (ORIG-BIRTH-001, CD-BIRTH-001)? Or should I treat the original the way I would a photo and list it in the photo section as BIRTH-001 (the same doc # as the copy) and give the CD location in the path field? Or should I give them completely new numbers and treat them as completely separate documents/photos in Clooz? The originals are kept in a safety deposit box at the bank so they are not filed in the BIRTH binder with the photocopies. The scans are on the CD with my photos. I thought about completely separate numbers but it seems there is no place I can reference the connection between these three seemingly unrelated documents in the Clooz document file -- unless I enter it in the remarks section for every participant in the document event. If there are plans in the future to add a remarks section for the document itself, I would think that separate numbers might be the best way to go. I was wondering how others are handling this situation. I'd appreciate any suggestions as I am just getting started and would like to get off on the right foot if at all possible! Thanks for any help!!
