Dear Annette, Thanks for the response. I, too, put the year in my file number but in the original version of clooz, there was a place for the year. I use the generic for the state censuses which, for my states, are years that end in either a "5" or a "4" so the 1850 census would not be useful since I would probably be constantly checking to see if I had typed in the wrong year.
