Another question or suggestion. Before I used Clooz 2.0 I created an Access Database for all my file folders, CD's and Books for genealogy. I am still using the database, these are Resources that I would like to add to Clooz 2.0 database. A feature to add .xls files to Clooz would be great for this, and also add a gedcom file to an existing data without loosing all the work that you have done or the original file. I know it is a lot of programing and maybe in the future. Just a suggestion.... Some of them are already in my RootsMagic software but not all, as it is my Research Log electronically. I have searching capabilities in the database. Right now I am doing triple entry, Clooz for certification purposes, Database for Research log, and RootsMagic for my genealogy information, including resources etc..... Thank goodness I am retired so I have time to do this. I have been really enjoying hanging out on both the Clooz and TMG lists. There are so many people here with so much accumulated knowledge and so many good ideas. I'm a relative newcomer to the genealogy arena, and every day on these lists I get a chance to talk to people who have already forgotten more about this subject than I will probably ever know. Happy genealogying... Some food for thought. I had started doing mine that way, using KY21 for one family, KY21a for a second family in the same county. Then I re read the instructions and got a little confiused. Thanks again for your imput. I use the combination of the census series and roll number as a source. So my source title for the 1870 St. Mary's County Maryland census would be: 1870 Census - Maryland - St. Mary's Co. - M593-594 And since all of St. Mary's County is recorded on that one census roll in that year, all of my census records for St. Mary's for 1870 fall under that source. Then, in the Clooz 1870 census form I enter the whole series, roll and page number for the census record as the personal file number. Something like: M593-594-520-A That's a fussy way to do it, but using that I (or anyone else) can go straight to that census record at HeritageQuest or Ancestry or wherever. I also never record more than a single census page in a Clooz census record. If a single family overlaps more than 1 page, I use 2 separate Clooz records, which both reference the same source but have unique personal file numbers like M593-594-522-B and M593-594-523-A. That way I don't have to worry about the fact that things like enumeration dates can be different from page to page, and I don't get bitten by the fact that line numbers on the 2nd page can be smaller than the line numbers on the first page and things like that. I guess I would also use the Title. MN State Census end in a 5 and only go for about 6 times. They don't fit in my line, so never thought about that. Good point/question.. A question that I have, I have 6 direct line families in one County in the 1850 Census. Different Townships or Districts for enumeration. Do you use one 1850 Census form for one state/ county and put all 6 families under that one census template? Use one 1850 Census for all States/counties ????? My file system I have the 1850 Census broken up into different families per townships/districts. So I am wrestling with how to do it. Probably a simple answer. Or a new way of looking at it. Appreciate any feedback or thoughts on this. I, too, put the year in my file number but in the original version of clooz, there was a place for the year. I use the generic for the state censuses which, for my states, are years that end in either a "5" or a "4" so the 1850 census would not be useful since I would probably be constantly checking to see if I had typed in the wrong year.
