    3. Hi--I just installed v. 2, and I'm getting an error. However, I think the problem may be more to do with my computer than the software. I turned off and exited all Windows programs, virus and spyware programs. Installed Clooz. Then the question at the end--"Launch Clooz"--I did, instead of rebooting. At the dialog box to enter new database name (I did) then received the following: ERROR-- Project Name: Clooz Source: frmMain.SelectDatabase Description: The type initializer for "Clooz.modOpenDatabase" threw an exception I have Norton virus & spyware, Ad-Aware, Spybot, and Windows Defender (in Beta 2 phase--it just updated last week from Beta 1 phase). These were all turned off during install. Is there something else I'm missing? Thanks for any help. Betty G.

    3. You shouldn't be prompted for anything. Please be patient. There are a lot of people trying to download at the same time. I wasn't able to download from either site just now. But I know the links are working as I tried them both this morning. I guess my websites can only handle so much traffic at one time. I've tried logging in as an anonymous user, but then I'm told to enter my email address for a password. When I enter my email address, I get a "Login Incorrect" error message and the connection drops. I've tried in both IE and Firefox. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Margaret

    3. In case anyone else experiences this problem. I normally use Download Accelerator Plus for all my downloads. However, in trying to get Version 2, I kept getting a message 'Authorization Required' and asking for UserID and Password. In order to get the download, I had to turn off DAP and use the Windows downloader. David Williams Galiano Island, BC Canada

    1. Clooz 2 is now available!
    2. Elizabeth Kelley Kerstens, CG, CGL
    3. List, Clooz 2 is now available for download from http://www.clooz.com/download.htm. There are two links. I expect it will be busy initially, so if they don't work, it's because of traffic, not because the link is broken. I've tested both links. I'm working my way through the stack of orders, sending each person an e-mail with his or her serial number. I hope to be through the stack today, but if I haven't sent yours yet, please give me some time. I'm sending them one at a time. As I explained yesterday, the download is the full program in demo mode. Anyone can download the program. If you want to keep using the program after 30 days or 15 tries, you'll need to purchase the program to get a serial number. If you're not sure why you should upgrade, see http://www.clooz.com for a list of the new features in Clooz 2. Please look in Help within the program for explanations of the features within Clooz. It's searchable and easy to use. I'm working on the manual and hope to have it ready soon. It will be available free as a download from the Clooz website, and the printed version will be for sale soon. Additionally, I should have a Clooz tutorial on DVD ready soon. Thanks and I hope you enjoy the program! Liz Kerstens http://www.clooz.com

    1. Clooz release
    2. Elizabeth Kelley Kerstens, CG, CGL
    3. Well, hallelujah! We are trying to launch Clooz 2.0. Some of you might have jumped the gun and downloaded before I announced the release. Not a problem. I put up a setup earlier today and some folks downloaded it. My programmer tells me that's not the release setup. He's in the process of uploading the file to me so I can put it on the servers to be downloaded by you. So, I've removed the link for the time being until we get the release setup uploaded. If you did download the one that was put up earlier today, not a problem. You can use it. It's the same program, but the release setup will be minus the debugging information. So, by tomorrow morning, you should be able to download Clooz 2.0 from http://www.clooz.com/download.htm. Everyone can download it. You don't need a serial number to install the program. You'll be able to use the program in demo mode for 30 days or 15 tries. After that you'll need a serial number. If you've purchased Clooz from me, I will be going through the process of sending out serial numbers to everyone over the next day or two. Please be patient. I will get to you. I have a large stack of orders that I need to deal with. But, you will be able to use the program in the interim without the serial number. Don't worry, you'll be reminded and will be given the opportunity to enter your serial number either when you start the program or from the Help menu. I hope you feel the program has been worth the wait. I am excited to use it myself. I've got a bunch of stuff sitting waiting. Now I just need data entry time... Liz Kerstens

    1. Re: [Clooz] Source vs. Document
    2. Elizabeth Kelley Kerstens, CG, CGL
    3. This is directly from Clooz Help in version 1.23: "Before you start, realize the difference between a source and a document. In short, a source is the place where you got the information and a document is the record itself, such as a census record." That's how Clooz distinguishes between the two. 3. I understand Georgia's question to be how Clooz intends the two fields to be used, not on general genealogical citation. We appreciate the reference to Cindis list as a reminder, but a short answer about how Clooz is structured would be helpful. Thank you. 1. Clooz 2 status
    2. Elizabeth Kelley Kerstens, CG, CGL
    3. Hi all-- Just wanted to update you on Clooz 2 progress. I was hoping to get Clooz 2 released this week, but it's not going to happen. We're very close, however. We're really just cleaning up some details and working on the final setup. I really hope to have it out next week, but we'll see as I'm having some outpatient surgery on Monday. Anyway, it will be released very soon. The good news is that we've managed to get all of the U.S. population census reports into this version; others will follow. I dare say I'm more anxious than you all to get the program out there, as I want to use it! As I've said before, the initial release will be a download only, as not all of the reports have been included in the program yet. So, if you've purchased the upgrade or the full version, when the program is released you'll get an e-mail with your new serial number and download instructions. Anyone will be able to download Clooz 2, as it will be in demo mode initially. You'll have 30 days to register the program with your serial number. This serial number will be different than the one you already have for earlier versions of Clooz. You MUST register the program through the Register item on the Help menu to continue to work in it. The beta that's up on the website now will expire on 30 April. I'm not going to put another beta up. The next version will be the initial release. When the program is released, if you've downloaded the beta, please uninstall the beta and delete any databases you've created with the betas before installing the new version of Clooz. You WILL have to create new databases with the release version, as we've made changes to the database structure. I hope that everyone will enjoy the new version. I'm very anxious for it to get out as I have a bunch of data entry sitting waiting for its release! 2. Elizabeth Kelley Kerstens, CG, CGL
    3. I tried it and it worked for me. None of the people are there? The problem is that Clooz doesn't know the sex, so in Legacy it will be in italics until you give it a sex. I would like to ask, again, if anyone trying the beta has problems, if they would please report them to me directly. The list can't do anything about the problems in a beta. Since it's still in beta testing, I'm the one to notify about problems. 3. This is by design. Clooz copies sources to Legacy and Legacy copies sources to Clooz. You will have duplicates initially. And the census descriptions are described in help.
