    3. Liz - thanks for the suggestion about the online help. Is there any way that the help might be made accessible from more than just the main screen? I think that part of the reason that I missed using it is that I went in - tried looking at Canadian census records and the top navigation with File Edit Search Reports and Help is then immediately greyed out. If I maximize the window for inputting I don't see the Help even exists. I expect that I'm not alone in just diving in to see user friendly / intuitive a program is. Having to go back to the main page to Help is not ideal. Kathy -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. 3. Thanks for the replies Gary and Georgia. It would a pretty big drawback doing double entry. So far I don't find Clooz all that intuitive but admit that I haven't devoted hours to it. I'll have to give it some thought. So far I've been just using Excel to keep track of documents and Clooz might be a better solution than that. I have also been filing things under names rather than type of document (census etc). I'm not new to genealogy so have a lot of paper and electronic info - not much of which is organized to maximize retrieval unfortunately. I guess that no matter which method one chooses the key is to use it thorough, documenting diligently filing and re-filing etc. Right now I'm looking at a rather untidy workspace and that is where I'll start today. I think that I'll check the Legacy boards/list and see if others have talked about it there. 3. Dear Kathy, I haven't installed the new version of clooz yet, but if it performs the same way as the old version, then after you select the database, click on the people button (terminology?) and then select "add a new person". On the 1.23 version, there is a picture of a person with a dog. Select that and enter the person's information. This is also the place where you edit the information for someone, search to see if you have the person and where you can preview what you have on that person. When you were entering the info for the census, you had the option of putting a new person in the people database at that time. Now the Q: If I do not reinstall the Access runtime will my data -- now stored in tables and such in Access -- be accessible or will I have to import it in some fashion? TIA Nelson

    2. Kathy Wallace
    3. Hi – I’m new to Clooz 2.0 (still a trial user) and admit that I haven’t read the entire online manual for the older version. I’m a Legacy Family Tree user and had no trouble importing data to create a Clooz database. I then started inputting data for the Canadian 1851/52 census and realized that the census gave me more people than I had in Legacy. I went back and added names for a family but, of course, they were not in the Clooz database. I then saved the updated Legacy file with a new name and tried to import the new information into Clooz. It worked – but I lost the census information that I’d been working on and when I try to access the Clooz file that matched the earlier Legacy info Can someone suggest what I should have done so that I was able to keep the Clooz census info and bring the new people in to the database so that I could link them? 2. Walt Black
    3. Three years ago my mother passed away and I lost interest in genealogy. I have since had a renewed interest in family history and I need to reload files from the past. I have different computers now with different software. My data was originally prepared with Windows 98 on the desktop. The desktop now has Windows XP home and the laptop Windows 2000. I have Clooz v 1.23 which is what I made my backup files with on to a diskette, not a cd, or dvd. I looked at the manual as well as the help on the Clooz menu and I'm unclear as how to get the files back on the computers. I'm planning to purchase the new version of Clooz so should I even bother trying to put the files on the old version. I don't want to loose the information from the backups as they have several names on them. Thanks, Walt -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. 3. Hey all, I was missing something.... like half the form. After careful study of the help file I realized that all of my forms were cut off, I went looking for the "link" button, to the right of the "digital file" text box and found that the edge of the form window cut off the text box. The problem was in my 'display properties' in the control panel. I had chosen 'large fonts' instead of 'normal size'. 'control panel', 'display', 'settings' tab, 'advanced' submenu, top portion normal size 96dpi. happy to be sending this solution before the letter with the original problem even appears in the list. cheers Ann

    3. Hey all, I just downloaded the new version and I have imported my Legacy file. It is not clear to me what exactly should I expect to find in my new Clooz database, I see the people and the sources. Should there be any links? I tried to enter my first record (a UK census) was able to fill out the whole form but I could not figure out how to save the document record and move on to the next one, am I missing something?? (besides a clue). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ann

    1. Re: [Clooz] Bible Record Entry
    2. I haven't entered a blible record into Clooz yet, but you could probably do it either way. One way would be to enter your photocopy of the bible record as a source document. Then make a birth, marriage or death document based on that source, perhaps putting in the description that this was an abstraction of birth records from such and such a document. You could also then label/number that document in such a way so that you could easily tell what it was. The other way would be to just make one general document for bible records and link everyone to that document. Maybe someone else has some other suggestions. - Sue - -----Original Message----- From: Dick Davis <Dick.Davis@verizon.net> To: Clooz-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sat, 13 May 2006 11:35:05 -0400 Subject: [Clooz] Bible Record Entry Finally started the use of the program and have a question. 3. Wow! Just downloaded the new version and, boy, am I impressed!! I installed it over 1.23 and converted the database and had no problems. I have been a registered user for several years now (also of Geneweaver) and I can't wait to start entering some more info. The new program seems to be so sleek and "now." In all honesty, I had not done a great deal with the older version as I found it a bit cumbersome but I think this one will be fabulous! Liz, it looks great and I'm looking forward to obtaining the manual as I kinda need the manual right next to me with a new program. Best of luck and thanks so much for all your efforts. By the way, it seems to be working well with my Brothers Keeper. Regards, Mary B. Wilson PS--Maybe a similar upgrade will be forthcoming with Geneweaver ;-) ??
