Also, as this message arrived, I felt that a good enhancement would be the name of the building - such as "Shiloh United Method Church, Montpelier, VA" This would be in the detail of the record and then show on the grid. This would be applicable to other areas in Clooz, and the logic hopefully could be reused. Then when looking at the grid, we could quickly see which building we would like to work with and see the people we have on file that are linked to the building. Comments? Thoughts? I have adopted a work around until that time. The workaround is to label the building, churches in this case, as "Church-VA-001" as the main picture of the outside. So, I guess the questions are these: (1) did I remember seeing correctly that this is a forth coming enhancement? And (2) does or could any one think of a better work around at this time while we are waiting on the enhancement? When my earlier message arrived, I had a suggestion on the enhancement way of having multiple pictures - which could apply throughout Clooz once the logic is worked out. If on the first image, the main one, it could be clicked and then open the link, there would be no need for the link to be shown. If this can be worked out logically, then the field "Digital File" and the associated field could be removed and then small thumbnails provided for the other associated pictures. The Clooz man icon could still the be way of linking, but would have to be changed to link to the next available slot. Also, when there are more thumbnail images than appear, the chevron (the arrow that points to the right or the left) could be used to advance one thumbnail to the right, and when on the left advance one thumbnail to the left. Then by clicking on the desired thumbnail, the picture image could open to a larger one, not full screen, but larger. (I am sure that I can find an example if any one is interested in having a visual). Also, there would have to be a number set for the number of images that can be added - is 26 enough? I am thinking here about when visiting an ancestral home place or a church and the desire is to have a more 360 degree type set of pictures. Anyone else have some thoughts on this? -----Original Message----- From: Dick Davis [mailto:Dick.Davis@verizon.net] Sent: Saturday, June 17, 2006 8:05 AM To: Clooz-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [Clooz] CloozV2 - Buildings - Multiple Pictures and Work Around In working with my pictures of building such as churches - the ones that I have attended as well a the ones that other family members have attended, I have multiple pictures such as the outside of the church, the inside such as sanctuary, etc. At the present time, I know that Clooz V2 doesn't provide for multiples for one entry, and though that I had read that this was an enhancement that was being planned. You've misunderstood my point. Let me clarify: In order to get Legacy data into Clooz (people, sources, anything), Legacy does not need TO BE MODIFIED to *write to* Clooz. Clooz can BE MODIFIED to *read from* Legacy. You don't need Millenia's involvement at all. I was responding to your prior statement "If you want to be able to add people to Legacy and then Clooz, you'll need to bug the folks at Millennia as it's their move to make that possible. " In fact, you/your programmer can make this possible. For example, implement an "Import New People" function in Clooz which would, when selected, provide the user with a dropdown list of Legacy folk. User selection from this list would result in the selected individuals' pertinent data being inserted into Clooz. I, too, know what I'm talking about. That's not true. Clooz writes to Legacy and Clooz databases. Legacy writes to Legacy databases only. If you want to write people to Legacy and Clooz simultaneously, the only way to do that currently is to add them to Clooz. Legacy doesn't add people to the Clooz database, which is separate. There's been a lot of conversation about getting Clooz 2 and Legacy to play nice together. How does Clooz 2 integrate with FTM? I am currently using Clooz 1.23 and FTM 2006. After manually importing my FTM database into Clooz, there is no further interaction between the two programs. I have to enter documents and new people twice. I have found Clooz to be very beneficial for census records and city directories which are likely to have several individuals linked to them, but just extra work for documents linked to only one person. What are the upgrade benefits for FTM users? Judy in Ocala
In order to get Legacy data into Clooz (people, sources, anything), Legacy does not need to **write to** Clooz. Clooz can **read from** Legacy. You don't need Millenia's involvement at all. I have one more question. I don't know if this would apply, but when Debbie explained her problem, it sounded to me like something similar that just happened to me when I did a Windows XP update. However, since both Legacy 6 and Clooz work on the same principle with the database, maybe it's something that has to do with creating a database as well as trying to add to one. After I did a Windows XP update last week, I got an error message when I tried to add new people. I found the solution at Legacy's site: http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/helpError400.asp I'm not saying that this is the problem, but thought that perhaps the same error caused by the Windows file causes a problem in the Clooz program, too. They have you download an old version of the particular file and put it in a place that Legacy will use.
So, will you share and help us build the knowledge of the new version by posting and the results or responses here so that all can benefit from the questions / request for support of one? I just recently upgraded to Clooz 2.0 and Legacy 6 Deluxe. From what I have been reading, if I am understanding correctly, when I enter new people in Legacy, the only way to get them into Clooz is to enter them manually. Is that correct? I have preferred to enter people into Legacy first then Clooz, but it sounds like I need to change my habit and enter into Clooz first so they will be automatically entered into Legacy. Am I understanding this process correctly? Thank you, Nancy
Debbie, customer support for Clooz is free. The list would not know how to help you, especially since Clooz 2 is so new. Additionally, you didn't give any of the error messages you received so even I can't help you. Please reply to me off list and give me the error messages you're receiving and the step by step process that you are taking to try to make a Clooz file. Have you read the online help or the free downloadable manual? At 08:54 PM 6/13/2006, Deebie Freeman wrote: >Hello Everyone, > >I have installed Clooz 2. I have Legacy 6 Deluxe.
