    3. At some of the cemeteries here you can go and do a print out for the person. It will have date of burial and location of the grave. At others you go and they give you a little card that has the grave info. Does that answer your question AR > > > I must really be having a total senior moment at 46 - but can > you give some examples from your experience? > > -----Original Message----- > From: Elizabeth Kelley Kerstens, CG, CGL > [mailto:liz@ancestordetective.com] > Sent: Wednesday, July 12, 2006 5:45 PM > To: Clooz-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [Clooz] Funeral/Burial Records - Documents > > How about burial records from a church or cemetery? > > At 12:50 PM 7/12/2006, Dick Davis wrote: > >Just checking to see if i am good with my thinking. > > > >Documents that would be considered part of the funeral/burial are > >the obituary, the hard bound memory book of the deceased, the > >electronic memory book that is done by some funeral homes, and the > >funderal program (don't know what this is really called) as all > >these are assocaited with the funeral. 2. Dick Davis
    3. I thought that I was on the right track as this was a document (I call it a program) for the funeral. It listed his wife, his children and their spouses, his grandchild along with their spouses, and the great grandchild and their spouses. In total about 25 people were listed (identified) along with the two ministers that performed the service. Honestly, I don't know what prompted the question if I was doing it right, but thought that I was. While waiting on some responses here - I recorded all the people that were listed in the document. -----Original Message----- From: Elizabeth Kelley Kerstens, CG, CGL [mailto:liz@ancestordetective.com] Sent: Wednesday, July 12, 2006 7:40 AM To: Dick.Davis@verizon.net; Clooz-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [Clooz] Funeral / Burial Record - Question Family Members At 11:34 PM 7/11/2006, Dick Davis wrote: >When entering a funeral / Burial record, should not the family be entered as >they were named in the document (Celebration of Life) that was used for the >funeral? 3. Dick, you can't link people to businesses. I'm not sure what you're talking about here. Remember, Clooz is document based. You link people to documents, you link businesses to documents. You don't link people to businesses. If someone works for a business, you'd have a document that you would link both the people and the business to. That's how Clooz is set up. Right now, I have done this and when I go the business/organization, there is nothing that is linked - which I expected to see the people that have been linked to the business/organization. When I click show business, I see that the person is linked to the Business/organization. Is it me? Or is this something that needs to be corrected in a future release? 1. Graves - Husband-Wife and Wife-Husband
    2. Dick Davis
    3. Does anyone know if there is a reason why on some grave stones the husband is listed on the left and the wife on the right, while on others the wife is listed on the left and then the husband on the right? I don't see that this is in the order of death as in some cases, the husband has died first and in others the wife has died before the husband. This is nothing more than a curious observation. I tried to make some inference if it was a period of time, but that doesn't hold true either. Or is this just a simple point - it is how the stone was ordered at the time by the family member making the order; or was it just the way that the funeral home ordered the stone- I know from my experiences, the funeral home doesn't always as who is on the left and who is on the right.

    3. Jim & Barbara, I also use two monitors, but only one computer. If you are using Windows XP, you can change the monitor setting to handle both monitors on one computer. I am able to open several programs and use the internet, ex. at Ancestry.com. When I want to save a census report, I print out the whole census sheet, then I enlarge that image that I want to be able to read easier (names, age, etc.) and print out, using "current view" and print that on the back side of my sheet where I printed the whole census. Most of the info that I want is on the left side of the census, but then if I want the other info, I just use a magnifier if I can't read the image, but usually I am able to read that information. The good and bad of using two monitors is that after using two monitors, it is hard to go back to using a single monitor...lol. I hope this helps, Cathy ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Smith<mailto:jsmith58@tampabay.rr.com> To: Clooz-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:Clooz-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 08, 2006 7:50 AM Subject: [Clooz] Efficient way to enter Census data... Here are things I have tried or have considered. I have a subscription to Ancestry, so I can get the census records online. I always print them out, but the printed copy is almost too small to read. I have tried typing directly from the online record to Clooz by tileing the windows and having both programs open side by side (or above and below). I can make the census record large enough on the screen to be easily readable, but there is a lot of scrolling back and forth, etc. using this method, and it is very time-consuming. I have considered using a magnifier on the printed copy and typing from it. This would probably require 2 bar magnifiers--one for the headings and one for the census line. I have also considered filling in a blank census form (on paper like I previously did from the microfilm at the library), and when I have a stack of them, opening Clooz and entering the data from the paper copy. 1. saving Census forms in JPG
    2. Rollin
    3. This is a way I found out a way to "Print and Save" a Census Record. ( I wrote this for myself, but it might help someone.) To Make JPG from Census 1. Open Location on the web of the Census form <http://www.heritagequestonline.com/prod/genealogy/index> 2. Search Census 3. Find Name at Surname listing 4. After finding the name of the person you want, go to the “Print Box” on the web page at the top. 5. A second window will open, and will give instructions for print in Acrobat form. 6. “Highlight” person’s name and Census information, and hit “COPY (Ctrl+C)” 7. Open image program. Find Text box tool, and hit “PASTE” (Ctrl+V). 8. Click onto “Census Image” on Heritage Quest, and hit “COPY (Ctrl+C)” 9. Click onto image program, and hit “PASTE” (Ctrl+V). You might need to move the image so it won’t block the information at the top. With the number 6 you will have a "Label" for the Surname listing. I use a free program called "Paint Dot Net." Hope this works for you.
